An inmate at Ankaful Maximum Security Prison, Ishaku Alhassan alias Sule Yagani, is being investigated for allegedly plotting the murder of Nana Serwaa Asaama Agyankomaa I, Queenmother of Abamba Traditional Area, from prison. The murder occurred on February 25, 2026.
The incident has triggered high-level investigations by the Ghana Prisons Service, which has warned that any inmate or officer aiding crime will face prosecution.
The Service reiterating its rules, stated that inmates only use supervised phones and scheduled visits, adding that personal phones are banned for inmates and officers on duty, and strict screening/searches are conducted to stop contraband.
However, despite these measures, preliminary police findings linked Alhassan to the crime.
