The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, joined the host DCE for South Tongu, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs), heads of institutions, queen mothers and other dignitaries at the 2026 World Menstrual Hygiene Day celebration held at St. Catherine Senior High School in Sogakope.
The programme, held on behalf of the Vice President, Her Excellency Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman, saw the distribution of sanitary pads to vulnerable schools and institutions across the Volta Region as part of efforts to combat period poverty and promote menstrual hygiene among girls.
In his remarks, Hon. James Gunu reaffirmed government’s commitment to ensuring that no girl misses school due to lack of access to sanitary products, while encouraging stakeholders to continue supporting girl child education and health initiatives.
