Hohoe, May 14 -The ban on the commercial operation of tricycles, popularly known as “Pragya,” remains in force in the Hohoe Municipality, even after discussions on the matter at the First Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Ninth Assembly held today.

The resolution banning Pragya operations was passed by the Assembly in 2023 and remains in effect.

During the discussions, the Assembly Member for the Torkorni/Trevi Electoral Area, Anthony Afevieku, the Assembly Member for the Gbledi Electoral Area, Robert Okoh, and the Assembly Member for the Torkorni/Blave Electoral Area, Derek Adzoe, argued that although the issue was captured on the agenda, the proper procedure required to review or amend the 2023 resolution had not been followed in accordance with the law.

They therefore called for the matter to be reconsidered at a subsequent meeting after the appropriate procedures had been followed.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Prosper Kumi, said the Assembly is prepared to review regulations governing Pragya operations.

He stressed that due process and existing rules must be respected.

The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Rafiu Adams, maintained that the Assembly’s 2023 resolution against Pragya operations remains valid.

He, however, gave the indication that the ban will be lifted after consultations and a subsequent review conducted through the appropriate procedures.
