A senior midwife at Trust Mother and Child Hospital in Osu has been picked up by police over her involvement in a child traff!cking case linked to missing children and thousands of cedis in suspected payments.
The suspect, identified as Lucinda Naomi Otchere, is said to be the head of the hospital’s Maternity and Labour Ward.
She was arr+sted on May 13, 2026, as investigations into the alleged operation intensified.
According to police investigators, Otchere is accused of accepting custody of a missing seven-year-old girl from another suspect, Janet Larbie, in a transaction that involved a payment of Ghc20,000.
Authorities further claim that another payment of Ghc35,000 was later made, after which Larbie was directed to send a second child, a five-year-old girl, to a couple living in Pokuase.
Investigators suspect the alleged traff!cking arrangement may have been running for some time before the arr+sts were made.
The latest arr+st comes after an earlier intelligence-led operation carried out by the Central East Regional Police Command, which led to the arr+st of six other individuals believed to be connected to the case.
