A tribal man in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, Jitu Munda , dug up his deceased sister’s skeleton as Proof to Claim a Money about Rs 19,300 from her account.
Jitu’s sister, Kakra Munda (or Kalra, aged 56), died on January 26, 2026, after her husband and child had already passed away, making him her sole heir. He repeatedly visited the Maliposi branch of Odisha Grameen Bank but was told to bring the account holder or legal documents like a death certificate, which the illiterate tribal man lacked. Frustrated, on April 26 or 27, 2026, he exhumed her remains from the village cremation ground, wrapped them in cloth, and brought them to the bank as “proof” of death under the hot sun.
