A citizen of Central Tongu, Worlas Agboe, has taken to Facebook to lament what he describes as growing political division and underdevelopment in the constituency.

In a post that has since generated reactions online, Agboe said town leaders have been “brainwashed” by political leaders, resulting in disunity among residents.

“A story that highlights how our town leaders were brainwashed by our political leaders, a story that talks about how our political leaders brought division to our community to the extent that brothers and sisters now see themselves as enemies,” he wrote.

According to him, the focus on self-interest over community development has stalled progress in the area, alleging that residents “sold their identity and integrity” for as little as “5kg of rice.”

“We no longer have any interest in developing our community but rather ourselves. This is how greedy we have become,” he stated, adding that communities in Central Tongu continue to battle with basic needs.

Agboe also questioned the impact of national policy promises such as the 24-hour economy and the reset agenda on local development.

He further pointed to internal political rivalries, which he described as the “Gabby camp and Gidisu camp case,” saying it is making politics in Central Tongu “childish.”

Taking a swipe at leadership, he said the Member of Parliament should be reminded of his promises, particularly citing the state of a school building in Mafi Agoe, one of the electoral areas in the constituency.

“Mr MP, the good people of MAFI AGOE have not forgotten your promises. This is a school building in one of your electoral areas here in Mafi Agoe. We are watching……,” he concluded.
