As part of Government’s efforts to alleviate poverty and empower Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly has distributed business support items to enable PWDs to become self-reliant.

This year’s exercise marks the second distribution since the assumption of office of the Municipal Chief Executive in 2025.

A total of 35 beneficiaries — comprising 18 males and 17 females — benefited from the programme. The items, procured based on individual assessed needs, included double-decker fridges, chest freezers, ice chests, durable modern plastic chairs, mattresses for hire, bags of dry maize, crates of eggs, bags of sachet water, bags of charcoal, a cassava-dough mill, and a manual wheelchair, among others.

The support is aimed at helping beneficiaries establish their own businesses and earn a decent living.

In his remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive urged all beneficiaries to put the items to good use to transform their lives.

He further assured that every year, new sets of beneficiaries will be supported until all PWDs in the municipality are covered.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the principles of inclusivity and ensuring that no one is left behind.
