DAILY NEWSFLASH – There was a scuffle this afternoon at the Tanoso Chief’s Palace between some youth of the community and the Tanoso Ankobeahene over allegations linked to illegal mining.
The youth allege that the chief has been storming galamsey sites to seize “black and stones” belonging to miners, but fails to present the items to the police for investigation.
They are accusing him of enriching himself under the guise of fighting galamsey, and claim he has been benefiting from such acts for several months.
According to the youth, if the Ankobeahene is genuinely fighting galamsey, he should hand over all seized items to the police station.
Tension escalated when one of the affected galamseyers stormed the palace to demand his goods, drawing a crowd of youths who attempted to force their way in.
Swift police intervention brought the situation under control. The police locked the palace entrance to prevent further unrest.
