The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) says rehabilitation works on the Kpong–Tema transmission pipeline are progressing faster than expected, as engineers work to replace five deteriorated sections of the critical water supply line.
Inspection by GWL leadership
GWL Managing Director, Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, inspected the ongoing works over the weekend. He was briefed by engineers, contractors and technical teams on the progress made so far.
Hon. Mutawakilu commended the teams for their commitment and assured customers that every effort is being made to complete the rehabilitation quickly.
Aim of the project
The intervention is targeting weak points along the Kpong–Tema network to strengthen the reliability of water supply to communities in Tema and surrounding areas.
GWL says the rehabilitation is a critical investment to prevent future major disruptions and improve the long-term stability of Ghana’s water supply system.
*Possible interruptions
While the works are ongoing, GWL has cautioned that temporary water interruptions may occur in affected areas.
The company urged customers to store water ahead of time and assured that notices will be issued before any planned shutdowns.
The Kpong–Tema pipeline is one of the main transmission lines serving Greater Accra. Officials say upgrading aging sections now will reduce bursts and improve water pressure for households and businesses in the long term.
