Ebenezer Ghartey, a National Service personnel at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), has been charged with the alleged embezzlement of GH¢308,300 through unauthorized Mobile Money transfers.

Prosecutors assert that he transferred funds from the MTN merchant account of a DVLA Administrative Officer to his own Mobile Money account between March and May 2026.

According to police reports, Ghartey utilized the misappropriated funds to purchase a Hyundai Elantra, a Samsung 50-inch television, furniture, an air conditioner, a washing machine, and various other household items.

Additionally, he allocated a portion of the funds to cover his rent and his sibling’s educational expenses.

Ghartey has pleaded not guilty and has been granted bail set at GH¢100,000. The case is scheduled for adjournment on August 4, 2026.
