As part of the ongoing post-flood mitigation initiatives, the Flood Mitigation Task Force conducted an inspection of the Tesa Dam located near East Legon Boundary Road to evaluate the effects of encroachment and determine necessary interventions to restore the facility’s operational capacity.
The team noted that the dam’s dimensions have been considerably diminished due to encroachment, with certain individuals constructing unauthorized retention walls that have interfered with the natural functioning of the water retention facility. These structures have been designated for demolition.
Additionally, the team identified a nearby densely populated settlement predominantly consisting of wooden structures, which presents significant health and sanitation risks. The affected areas have been designated for removal as the government intensifies its efforts to mitigate flood risks and safeguard lives and property.
