_DZODZE, Volta Region – June 16, 2026_ – It is with profound regret that we report the demise of two individuals and the devastation of several communities within the Ketu North Constituency due to floods that have ravaged homes and submerged agricultural lands, as confirmed by the Member of Parliament, Hon. Eric Edem Agbana.

In an official statement released this evening, the MP indicated that he, along with the Municipal Chief Executive, dedicated the past two days to visiting the affected areas to evaluate the extent of the damage and engage with the residents.

“It is with deep sorrow that I confirm the unfortunate loss of two lives. Numerous properties have been destroyed, and extensive hectares of farmland have been completely submerged,” stated Hon. Agbana.

The floods have reportedly obliterated crops across multiple communities, posing a threat to food security and the livelihoods of numerous farmers within the constituency.

Hon. Agbana assured that emergency response efforts are currently in progress with the collaboration of key government agencies. “We are working in close coordination with all relevant agencies and stakeholders to manage the situation and provide the necessary support to the affected residents,” he remarked.

Hon. Agbana expressed his gratitude for the prompt response from regional authorities. “We are particularly thankful to the Volta Regional Minister and NADMO for their swift intervention and support during this challenging period.”

Officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation were present during the tour, initiating damage assessment and distributing initial relief items to displaced families.

The MP further stated that a comprehensive report detailing the full extent of the damage and the measures being implemented will be released “at the appropriate time” following consultations with technical teams.

Residents of the communities most severely affected have been advised to relocate to higher ground and cooperate with NADMO and assembly officials as rainfall continues in parts of the Volta Region.
