A report by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) puts the number of individuals affiliated with armed Fulani‑linked groups at roughly 30,000. These groups—ranging from pastoralist vigilantes to bandits and, in some cases, extremist cells—have been responsible for lethal attacks, kidnappings and raids, especially in the Middle Belt and parts of the South. Their actions have contributed to the displacement of at least 1.3 million Nigerians. While many incidents target Christian farming communities, Muslims have also been victims. The groups lack a unified command structure but occasionally cooperate with criminal gangs and extremist organizations.#DWAfrica
