The Bekwai Circuit Court has sentenced a 30-year-old mine worker to 14 years imprisonment for defiling an 8-year-old girl at Manso Kumpese in the Ashanti Region.
The convict, Atta Kwadwo, was found guilty of defilement under Section 101 of the Criminal Code.
The court heard that on July 10, 2026, Kwadwo lured the victim near a bathhouse in the same compound where they both live. The girl’s mother, who became worried after the child spent too long in the bathroom, went to check and raised an alarm. The girl’s father rushed to the scene and the suspect was arrested and handed over to the Adubia Police.
Medical examination at St. Martin’s Catholic Hospital in Agroyesum confirmed the assault.
Presiding judge, His Honour Isaac Appiatu, handed down the 14-year sentence after the court found Kwadwo guilty.
