Controversial Ghanaian prophet, Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, popularly known as Opambour, has declared his support for President John Dramani Mahama’s directive banning preaching in moving buses.

Speaking on his TV station, Opambour TV, the founder of Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre said the ban is long overdue to protect passengers’ comfort and safety.

According to Opambour, about 92% of pastors who preach in commercial vehicles (trotro and buses) do so purely for money and not for soul-winning.

He alleged that most of these preachers even refuse to pay lorry fare, yet they take advantage of passengers who are already tired and force them to listen to long sermons and then demand offering.

“Most of them don’t even pay fare. They enter the bus, preach and then start collecting money. It’s not about God, it’s about money,” Opambour stated.

His comments come amid heated national debate after President Mahama reaffirmed that preaching, hawking and playing loud music in moving commercial vehicles is prohibited to ensure public order and reduce noise pollution and distraction for drivers.

While some pastors have criticized the ban as an attack on evangelism, Opambour insists it will sanitize the system.
