The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the North Tongu Constituency is on the verge of implosion over the alleged mismanagement of GHS 20,000 monthly administrative funds from the party’s national headquarters.
The existence of the monthly support was confirmed by the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Mustapha Gbande, who disclosed that every constituency receives GHS 20,000 monthly for administrative activities.
In North Tongu, the Constituency Secretary has confirmed that the constituency has been receiving the amount consistently from August 2025.
Trouble started when a bold branch executive demanded full accountability on the party’s official WhatsApp platform on how the funds have been utilized. That single demand has split the constituency executives, triggering blame games, counter-accusations and heated exchanges.
Constituency Secretary Breaks Silence
In a frantic response to calm nerves, the Constituency Secretary attempted to address the critical issues raised by the branch executives.
On the GHS 20,000, he admitted:
“The party has been sending Twenty thousand cedis to our account since August last year 2025. We used some of the Money for administrative works such as; Meetings and T&T for meetings. The administrative expenses. Eg. Allowance for our office assistant, rent, bills, etc. The was no order that the money should be shared among Executives”.
He promised to render a detailed account to the party, even on the WhatsApp platform if permitted.
Branch Executives Rejected Secretary’s Claim
But in a sharp contradiction, credible checks by Daily Newsflash show that several branch Chairmen and Secretaries flatly deny ever being consulted or approving the allocation for the constituency administrative works as claimed by the Secretary.
The denial has deepened mistrust, with branch executives now demanding a full, audited account of every cedi received and spent since last year.
They are calling on the Volta Regional Executives and the NDC National Headquarters to immediately intervene and audit the North Tongu accounts before the situation degenerates.
Efforts to get other constituency executives to respond are ongoing.
