The Dorfor Queen Mothers Union has marked this year’s “My First Day at School” with a donation to pupils of Fintey Basic School in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.
The donation was led by Mama Afibaa Agbovi V, President of the Union, through the support of the Asuogyaman DCE, Honourable Godwin Bobobee.
The items donated included school bags, exercise books, pencils, erasers, sharpeners and other learning materials to welcome new entrants and motivate continuing pupils as they begin the new academic year.
Leaders of the Union said the gesture forms part of their commitment to promoting quality education, supporting children in deprived communities within the Dorfor Traditional Area, and complementing government’s efforts to improve basic education.
Mama Afibaa Agbovi V encouraged the pupils to be punctual, disciplined and obedient to their teachers and parents, and urged them to take their studies seriously to become responsible future leaders.
On his part, Hon. Godwin Bobobee commended the Queen Mothers for their thoughtfulness and continuous support for education, stressing that education remains the key to development.
Management of the school and parents expressed appreciation to the Union and the DCE for the timely intervention, noting that it will go a long way to boost enrolment and retention.
The pupils also thanked the Dorfor Queen Mothers Union and the DCE for the kind gesture and promised to study hard to become responsible future leaders.
