The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, together with the MCE for Yilo Krobo, Francis Akumatey Addo, the MP for Yilo Krobo, Albert Tetteh Nyarkotey, former Finance Minister Seth Terkper, and the Yilo Krobo Traditional Authorities, has broken ground for the construction of the Somanya-Dodowa road and inner roads at Somanya.
The sod-cutting ceremony, held at Somanya in the Yilo Krobo Municipality, marks the beginning of work on the major road which has been in a deplorable state for years, causing discomfort to motorists and residents.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Awatey said the project forms part of government’s Big Push Agenda to improve road infrastructure and is a fulfilment of promises made by the NDC during the 2024 election campaign. She expressed hope that Ghanaians will retain the NDC in the next elections as more developmental projects are coming to the constituency.
She assured residents that the contractor has been tasked to deliver quality work within schedule.
The MCE for Yilo Krobo, Francis Akumatey Addo, expressed gratitude to the Regional Minister, the MP and the former Finance Minister for their cooperation in enhancing development in Yilo Krobo, noting that the municipality is getting its share of the national cake.
For his part, the Paramount Chief of the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area, Nene Oklepeme Nuer Anorbaa Sasraku II, said the people of Yilo Krobo have not regretted voting for the NDC, as many developmental projects are currently under construction in the area.
