A 70-year-old married man, Agya Mensah, has appeared on the popular relationship programme Oyerepa Afutuo, narrating how he allegedly lost over GH¢4,000 to a woman he intended to have an affair with.
According to him, he first received a strange call from the woman who claimed her parents were dead and she was struggling to feed herself. Moved by her story, he started sending her money.
He said the woman later proposed a romantic relationship, which he accepted. He admitted his children warned him against it, but he ignored them after she allegedly sent him a nude photo.
“My children warned me, but I did not listen to them,” he said.
Agya Mensah said the woman later asked to visit him and he sent her transport fare. Shortly after, he received a call that she had been involved in an accident and needed money for medical bills.
He claimed he was introduced to her grandmother and uncle earlier, and they also started calling him for money for her treatment. Believing the emergency was real, he kept sending money until his losses exceeded GH¢4,000.
He later realised he had been deceived and went to Oyerepa Afutuo to help him locate the woman and retrieve his money.
The allegations are based on Agya Mensah’s account. The woman and her family have yet to publicly respond.
