Personnel of the Nkawkaw Fire Station have been commended after rescuing a 3-year-old boy from drowning during a community engagement exercise in Kwamang.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service, the station’s visibility team was interacting with the owner of a facility near Access Pub and Restaurant when they spotted the child in distress in a nearby stream.
The officers responded swiftly and pulled the child from the water, saving his life.
The Ghana National Fire Service has praised the Nkawkaw Fire Station team for their vigilance and quick action.
“Kudos to the Ghana National Fire Service, especially the Nkawkaw Fire Station team. Your commitment to protecting lives and property during emergencies has once again been demonstrated,”* a statement said.
The Service added that the incident underscores the importance of community engagement exercises, which not only educate the public on fire safety but also enable officers to respond immediately to emergencies in the area.
Authorities are urging parents and guardians to closely supervise children, especially around water bodies, to prevent similar incidents.
