The Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company, Mr. George Abradu-Otoo, along with his team, has visited Asutsuare in the Shai-Osudoku District to engage with rice farmers and assure them of the ongoing efforts to purchase their excess produce.

The meeting, which took place on Monday, 15th June 2026, was attended by the District Chief Executive for Shai-Osudoku, Hon. Ignatius Godfred Dordoe, and key stakeholders.

During the engagement, the farmers expressed concerns about delays in the purchasing process and the expected price for their rice.

In response, Mr. Abradu-Otoo explained that the process is almost complete and assured the farmers that measures are being put in place to ensure a smooth purchase of their produce. He revealed that a warehouse has been secured at Kordiabe through the efforts of the Shai-Osudoku DCE, Hon. Ignatius Godfred Dordoe, and the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Ocloo.

“Within two weeks, work on the warehouse will be completed, and we will have space to store the rice. An aggregator will then be assigned to Asutsuare to begin the purchase of the rice,” he stated.

Hon. Ignatius Godfred Dordoe also assured the farmers that rehabilitation works on the warehouse would be completed within the promised period to enable the Buffer Stock Company to store the rice after purchase. He urged the farmers to exercise patience as the process is being finalized.
