On the 22nd of June, 2026, the Asuogyaman District Assembly embarked on a noteworthy initiative aimed at fostering inclusion, empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within the district.
The presentation ceremony was presided over by the Honorable District Chief Executive, Honorable Godwin Bobobee, with the support of the District Coordinating Director, Heads of Departments, and staff from the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development.
Beneficiaries were provided with a range of livelihood support items tailored to their specific trades and economic activities. These items included agrochemicals, a washing machine, paints, provisions, a portable cassava grinding machine, cosmetics, hairdressing tools, six wheelbarrows, a welding machine, deep freezers, barbering machines, materials for liquid soap production, as well as food items such as beans, onions, pepper, gari, and palm oil.
This intervention aims to enhance the economic independence and social well-being of beneficiaries by equipping them with the necessary tools and resources to expand existing businesses or establish new income-generating ventures.
During the event, the Honorable DCE reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring inclusivity in the district’s development agenda. He emphasized that empowering Persons with Disabilities is not merely an act of charity but a strategic investment in human potential and inclusive growth.
This initiative exemplifies the Assembly’s dedication to translating social protection policies into tangible benefits for vulnerable groups. By providing PWDs with productive assets and livelihood opportunities, the Assembly continues to promote dignity, self-reliance, and community participation.
The Asuogyaman District Assembly extends its commendation to the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development and all stakeholders whose efforts contributed to the success of this program.
