The Volta Regional Political Coordinator, Hon. Ben-Habib Sikiru Abibu, has commended the steady progress of educational infrastructure projects in the Hohoe Municipality following a visit to the permanent campus of the School of Public Health of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) at Fodome.
During the visit, Hon. Ben-Habib Sikiru Abibu expressed satisfaction with the significant progress made by the contractor working on the facility. The project, which had been abandoned for several years under the previous administration, is now nearing completion and is expected to soon be ready for academic use.
According to him, the completion of the School of Public Health campus will strengthen tertiary health education, provide modern learning facilities for students, and contribute to the training of skilled healthcare professionals for the country.
He further highlighted another major educational investment in the area, revealing that the government, through the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), has awarded a contract for the construction of a modern STEM Senior High School just a few meters from the UHAS campus at Fodome.
Hon. Ben-Habib Sikiru Abibu noted that the simultaneous development of the School of Public Health and the STEM Senior High School demonstrates the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education at all levels.
From tertiary health education to STEM-focused secondary education, these projects are expected to create opportunities for students, promote innovation, and accelerate socio-economic development in Hohoe and the Volta Region.
He emphasized that the ongoing projects are clear evidence that development is taking place and that the people of Hohoe are witnessing the impact firsthand through improved educational infrastructure and investment in the future of the youth.
