Briefings from the Interior Minister, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, indicated that 48 families were affected by the fire. While some have relocated to stay with relatives, arrangements have been made to provide temporary accommodation and immediate relief to the remaining victims. Government, through the relevant agencies, has provided financial assistance to affected families, while additional relief items have been distributed by NADMO.
Addressing residents and officials at the scene, She expressed gratitude that despite the scale of the incident, there was no loss of life. She also acknowledged, however, the trauma experienced by affected families, particularly children. Losing one’s home is a deeply painful experience, and Government remains committed to supporting those affected during this difficult period.
Nan Jane emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation to establish the cause of the fire and identify any lessons to prevent future disasters. Incidents such as these remind us of the need to adhere to safety regulations and continuously strengthen our preparedness and response systems.
The vice President thanked the affected families for their cooperation during this challenging period and commended all the institutions and individuals whose prompt intervention has helped ease the burden on the victims. She also thanked the government officials present for their swift response and coordinated efforts to support the victims and mitigate the impact of the incident.
