An expect and advocate for the youth, Maa Afia expressed deeply concern on how people are becoming a resistance tool on the path way of achievement to others.
“I have wondered why people see wrong and still support it, yet fight those trying to do something good”
She said in our homes, schools, churches, hospitals, and communities, there are young men and women with ideas, vision, and purpose. But the moment they step forward to speak, innovate, or bring change, criticism begins.
She also said, she once shared these thoughts with her Madam in school, and the madam told her something powerful: “Afia, if the Akosombo Dam were to be built in today’s Ghana, some people would still fight against it out of greed, politics, selfish interests, and envy.”
Yet today, we all benefit from what that vision became for Ghana.
Afia said that statement of her Madam opened her eyes.
Sometimes, society resists good things before it later celebrates them. Many people are afraid of change, threatened by vision, or simply uncomfortable with people who choose purpose over silence.
Maa- Afia finally advised the youth saying
“I want to use my voice to encourage every young person trying to do something meaningful: stand firm. Society may criticize you today, but your impact may become the blessing generations depend on tomorrow”
Let us stand for something meaningful. And fight for it with purpose.
