VOLTA REGION – The Aflao Traditional Council and all Assembly Members within its jurisdiction have rejected a proposal to establish a new court complex at Glidzi, a plan being championed by Ketu South Municipal Chief Executive Nicholas Kwabla Worclachie.

At an emergency meeting held at the palace of Torgbuiga Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V, the Council expressed total opposition to any attempt to relocate the High Court from its current location to Glidzi.

The Council described the move as “a calculated effort to exploit existing infrastructure challenges as a pretext for unlawfully displacing the court from its long-established judicial enclave in the southern corridor of the Volta Region.”

“The issue presently confronting the Judicial Service is fundamentally an infrastructure deficit, not a relocation defect,” the Council stated. It added that the Traditional Council is capable of mobilizing support, partnerships, and resources to construct a dignified and permanent High Court complex befitting the Judicial Service of Ghana.

The Council has advised the Ketu South Municipal Assembly to withdraw the proposal and halt any further attempts to relocate the court. It called for broader stakeholder engagement and consultation with traditional authorities and the people of Aflao before any decision is made.

It further urged the Assembly to avoid policies that could create division and perceptions of discriminatory treatment, and instead focus on attracting new developmental projects and strengthening institutional infrastructure across the municipality.
