It is not compulsory to give your driving license to the police anymore, you can just mention your license number or show him the soft copy- IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
Now if you have a license and a police stops you to ask for it, their boss the IGP says you are not obliged to hand over the physical copy of it as you can just mention the license number for the police to check its legitimacy on their end.
This comes after a series of complaints from drivers who have had their license seized several times by one police man and it becomes difficult trying to get it back if you don’t their usual.
A policeman will seize your license over something ‘small’ and when you are not able to do the necessary, he will just drive away and sometimes ask you to find him at a police station
You would go there and always never meet him and in the end you now have to go and do a new one.
If the police has a case, all he needs is your license number to file his report and make his case because there is a system where he can enter such license number to check if its valid
Thank you IGP. You do all
