A 26-year-old driver, Paul Owusu, has been fined GH¢1,800 by the Toase District Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region for two traffic offences.

He admitted to driving without valid insurance and using a mobile phone while driving, and was convicted based on his guilty plea.

Police Inspector Kwaku Frimpong, the prosecutor, told the court presided over by Robert Addo that officers of the Nkawie Divisional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) arrested the accused on April 13, 2026, at about 3:00 p.m. while on routine duty.

The officers reportedly spotted him driving a Honda Accord minibus with registration number GS 2966-22 while using a mobile phone.

Further checks revealed that the vehicle’s insurance had expired.

He was later arrested, processed, and brought before the court.
