The Ghana Police Service has dismantled a suspected child trafficking syndicate operating in Kasoa, arresting six suspects and rescuing three victims—including a 10-month-old baby allegedly sold for GH¢35,000.
The suspects are believed to be part of a wider network operating across the Central and Ashanti Regions, involving recruitment, deception, and illegal sale of children.
Police say the case began after a 7-year-old girl, Kadija Karim, went missing and later revealed she was lured with a false promise of being taken to see her biological mother.
Further investigations uncovered a more disturbing case in which a mother was allegedly tricked into handing over her two children, with the infant reportedly transported to Asuofua Mampong and sold before being rescued in Asokore Mampong and Suame.
Authorities say the syndicate was allegedly coordinated by a suspected ringleader currently on the run, while several suspects are in custody assisting with investigations as police continue their manhunt for others involved.
