On Thursday, 30th April 2026, The Honorable DCE of North Tongu, Hon. Victoria Yawa Doe joined her colleague MMDCEs and the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council to officially sign the contract under Government’s 24-hour economy initiative, alongside project contractors. This marks a major transition from planning to implementation of a transformative programme aimed at boosting economic activity across the region.

The project will deliver modern market infrastructure, improved trading spaces, enhanced security and reliable utilities to support round-the-clock business operations. It is expected to create jobs, empower traders and entrepreneurs, and strengthen local economies, including North Tongu.

With the contract duly signed, we now look forward to the sod-cutting ceremony and commencement of construction works. I express my profound gratitude to H.E. John Dramani Mahama and our Member of Parliament and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, for their continued support and commitment to the development of our district. I remain committed to ensuring that North Tongu fully benefits from this initiative as we drive inclusive growth and sustainable developments.
