The Akosombo Divisional Police Command has extended its ongoing community sensitisation and mentorship initiative to the Asikuma and Anum enclave, with a series of engagements held in selected basic and Senior High Schools on Monday, April 27, 2026.
The campaign, led by the Akosombo Divisional Police Commander, Chief/Supt. Doris Grant, forms part of a broader effort to educate young people particularly in rural communities on critical social issues affecting their lives and future.
A dedicated team of police officers, mainly from the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), interacted with students on topics including domestic violence, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, and cybercrime. The sessions were designed not only to inform but also to empower students to make responsible decisions.
Chief/Supt. Doris Grant and her team also shared personal life experiences, using their stories to inspire and motivate the students. Their approach created an engaging atmosphere that encouraged participation and openness among the students.
The initiative, which began earlier this year in other rural communities, continues to gain momentum as it reaches more schools within the division’s jurisdiction.
Speaking to www.krobolandonline.com after the exercise, Chief/Supt. Doris Grant reaffirmed her strong commitment to expanding the programme to benefit more rural students. She emphasized that the campaign is part of proactive measures by the Akosombo Police Division to safeguard the future of young people while helping to curb crime and other illegal activities in the area.
The outreach programme continues to highlight the importance of community policing and youth mentorship in building safer and more informed communities.
