Mary, the 17-year-old girl whose pregnancy story was featured on Joy Prime’s program, Changes, had dreams of becoming a journalist before her education was halted.

Following the incident, she was disowned by her mother and is now staying with her grandmother. The young man involved, identified as Constant, is a student in one of the senior high schools in Sogakope and is expected to complete school this year.

He initially accepted responsibility for the pregnancy but later denied it when his mother confronted him over the issue.

The South Tongu Education Director and some well-meaning followers are willing to support Mary and help her continue pursuing her dreams despite the challenges.

Can society do more to support young girls whose education and future are affected by teenage pregnancy?
