In his address, the DCE described the project as a promise fulfilled by the President H.E John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government.
The consultant officially presented the project documents and designs to the contractor for commencement of work.
The contractor assured the assembly and people of Asikuma of quality work and timely completion of the market facility.
The DCE urged the contractor to employ local artisans and youth to support community development.
He also called on residents to cooperate fully throughout the construction period.
Traditional authorities expressed gratitude to the President and the assembly for bringing development closer to the people.
The modern 24-hour market is expected to improve business activities and create employment opportunities in the district.
The event ended with a symbolic handshake between the consultant, contractor, traditional leaders and the DCE to mark the official start of the project.
