ACCRA – Engage Now Africa (ENA), in collaboration with the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, has rescued 20 young people from Burkina Faso who were lured into Ghana by online traffickers with fake promises of lucrative jobs.

The victims, who were deceived by scammers on social media, were rescued in a joint operation and taken to Engage Now Africa’s House of Hope Transitional Shelter where they received comprehensive care.

For about a month, the survivors were provided with safe accommodation, feeding, counseling, and psychosocial support to help them recover from their traumatic experience before being safely repatriated to their home country, Burkina Faso.

Speaking on the rescue, management of Engage Now Africa expressed profound appreciation to all partners who made the operation and rehabilitation possible.

“We sincerely appreciate QNET, EOCO, Ensign Global University, and all partners whose support made the rescue, care, and safe repatriation possible,” the organization stated.

The organization also cautioned the public, especially the youth across the sub-region, to be vigilant against online job scams and irregular migration schemes.

Engage Now Africa is urging the public to verify every job opportunity, seek reliable migration information, and report any suspicious recruitment or online scams to the appropriate authorities.
