Fintey, Asuogyaman — The leadership of the Dorfor Queen Mothers Union on Friday, August 21, embarked on a community engagement at Fintey to champion development, moral discipline, and responsible parenting among residents.
The engagement, led by the President of the Union, Mama Afibaa Agbovi V, brought together mothers, young women, parents and opinion leaders in the community.
The Queen Mothers used the platform to advocate strongly against social vices including illicit drug use, indecent dressing and teenage pregnancy among the youth, which they described as major threats to the future of the community.
Focus on Parenting and Family Values
During the interactive session, the Union educated parents on effective child upbringing and how to handle stubborn children with patience and wisdom. They emphasized the need for mothers to be responsible role models at home and to fully understand their roles and responsibilities in building strong families.
The Queen Mothers also encouraged women to dress decently, especially in traditional attire, to serve as positive examples for their children.
On child communication, they advised parents to avoid shouting at children when they go wrong, but rather to call them aside and correct them in a polite and loving manner.
The floor was later opened for questions and contributions, with participants actively engaging the Queen Mothers on issues affecting family life and community development.
Community Applauds Initiative
The people of Fintey expressed excitement and gratitude to the Queen Mothers for the timely engagement, noting that they had learnt a lot and would apply the lessons in their daily lives.
In her concluding remarks, the Chairperson, Mama Agbovi V, cautioned residents against insulting and disobeying their Queen Mother. She warned that the Union will not hesitate to use its traditional authority to discipline anyone who disrespects traditional leadership.
As part of measures to ensure discipline and order, a seven-member committee has been established in Fintey to support the local Queen Mother in enforcing discipline and promoting development.
According to the leadership, the engagement forms part of the broader vision and mission of the Dorfor Queen Mothers Union to drive development and moral uprightness across all communities within the Dorfor Traditional Area.
