According to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, all 140 police personnel affected by the recent fire outbreak at the Accra Central Police Barracks have been successfully resettled. The IGP stated that many of the impacted officers opted for rent allowances as they already had alternative accommodations, while those without housing have been provided with rented residences by the Police Service. Additionally, he mentioned that the fire-damaged barracks, which is over 100 years old, will be demolished and the area secured as authorities deliberate on future actions. The fire on June 3, 2026, resulted in the destruction of homes and properties valued at millions of cedis, temporarily displacing numerous officers.
