The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie Central, Honorable Emmanuel Obeng-Agyemang, has reiterated the fundamental importance of agriculture in Ghana’s economy, emphasizing that farmers must be supported and recognized for their contributions to national development and food security.
In an effort to boost agricultural productivity within the district, the Assembly distributed farming inputs to 150 farmers during a ceremony held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the courtyard of the District Agriculture Department.
Each recipient was provided with two bags of fertilizer, two bottles of weedicide, three pairs of Wellington boots, and two cutlasses to aid their farming endeavors.
Addressing the intervention, Honorable Obeng-Agyemang highlighted that agriculture continues to be the cornerstone of Ghana’s economy and should consistently receive the requisite attention and investment.
He noted that this initiative aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of bolstering food security and fostering practical agricultural education as a means to enhance livelihoods and sustain economic growth.
“Farmers should never be taken for granted. By providing them with the necessary assistance in their field of work, we are enabling them to cultivate nutritious food for various households, generate small-scale income to support families, and impart valuable farming skills to our youth that will benefit them throughout their lives,” he asserted.
The DCE remarked that supporting farmers with essential inputs not only aids in increasing yields but also contributes to building resilient farming communities capable of meeting the food demands of the growing population.
The beneficiary farmers expressed their gratitude for the support, describing it as timely assistance that would help reduce production costs and enhance their productivity during the farming season.
This intervention is part of the district’s broader commitment to promoting agriculture, empowering local farmers, and contributing to national efforts aimed at achieving sustainable food production and improved livelihoods.
