Tomato traders at Tema Central Market are urging the government and agricultural stakeholders to strengthen farmer training programmes to boost local tomato production and reduce reliance on imports.
The traders say training in modern farming practices, coupled with continuous technical support, could increase yields, reduce post-harvest losses, and improve year-round supply. They also linked current high tomato prices to supply disruptions from Burkina Faso and called for greater support for local farmers.
