AGORTIME ZIOPE, May 5, 2026 – Concerns have been raised over the state of classroom infrastructure in parts of the Agortime Ziope Constituency after a video showing pupils learning under deplorable conditions went viral.
The video has sparked public criticism directed at the Member of Parliament for Agortime Ziope, Hon. Agbeve Charles. Some residents say the footage exposes inefficiencies in addressing educational needs in the constituency.
One concerned resident said, Who would have imagined that in today’s Ghana there would be a community who learns under this terrible situation. I plead with you to as a matter of urgency consider plans to provide these students with befitting classrooms. This is just heartbreaking.
The resident described the situation as unacceptable and called on the MP to act quickly to provide proper learning facilities for the affected pupils.
Attempts to reach Hon. Agbeve Charles for comment on the video and the state of school infrastructure in the constituency were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
Education stakeholders in the Volta Region have repeatedly called for urgent investment in school infrastructure, especially in rural communities where pupils continue to study under trees or in dilapidated structures.
