The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, together with the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Mrs. Marilyn Maame Efua Houadjeto, visited the Wli Waterfalls to assess its tourism and investment potential.
The delegation, which included the Volta Regional Director of GTA, Madam Roberta Okine-Fumador, the Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Prosper Kumi and other officials, toured the site and interacted with staff, residents, and visitors.
They also paid homage to the elders of the Wli community and discussed ways of promoting tourism development in the area.
Hon. James Gunu noted that the Volta Region has over 120 tourist sites with huge potential but many remain underdeveloped due to challenges such as poor accessibility. He described Wli Waterfalls as one of the region’s major tourist attractions capable of drawing more local and international visitors with the needed investment.
Mrs. Marilyn Maame Efua Houadjeto stated that the Ghana Tourism Authority is engaging investors to explore opportunities in eco-tourism, including eco-lodges, restaurants, and other hospitality facilities that will create jobs and boost local economic growth.
The visit highlighted government’s commitment to developing tourism in the Volta Region and unlocking its economic potential.
