The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has formally inaugurated the Millennium Supporters Union of Ghana (MISUGHA) Volta World Cup Village Initiative at the E.P. Church in Kpetoe. This initiative aims to foster community unity, empower the youth, enhance social cohesion, and stimulate local economic activities through the medium of football and the 2026 FIFA World Cup experience.
As part of this initiative, large screens will be installed in Anloga, Keta, Ketu South, Ho, Akatsi South, and Hohoe to establish secure and engaging venues where football enthusiasts can congregate to enjoy matches in a family-friendly setting.
In his address to the participants, Hon. Gunu characterized the FIFA World Cup as a global event that transcends borders, cultures, and beliefs. He praised MISUGHA for their initiative and highlighted the significant role that sports play in youth empowerment and community development. Furthermore, he contributed a personal donation of GHS 10,000 to support the project.
The event was attended by traditional authorities, MISUGHA executives, football enthusiasts, and community members, and was further enriched by cultural performances from the Asogli Borbor Group and the Amenuveve Cultural Troupe.
