Hundreds of young people from across the Ada enclave on Saturday took to the streets to protest what they described as years of poor governance and deteriorating living conditions in the area.

The demonstrators expressed frustration over the deplorable state of roads, the persistent water crisis, inadequate healthcare facilities, the lack of essential medical equipment, supplies and logistics needed for quality healthcare delivery, poor educational infrastructure, the underdevelopment of local markets, and the absence of other critical social amenities.

Carrying placards and chanting protest songs, the protesters marched from Kasseh through Atortorkope, and other principal streets
to Big Ada, drawing attention to what they described as an escalating development crisis that threatens lives, livelihoods, and the future of the area.

Dubbed the “Ada Deserves Better Demonstration,” the protest brought together residents, youth groups, students, traders, fisherfolk, and community activists who demanded urgent intervention from both the national government and local authorities.

According to the protesters, years of infrastructure deficits and poor leadership have contributed to preventable deaths, economic hardship, limited opportunities for young people, and a declining standard of living in the area known for its rich, undiluted white gold resource.

The demonstrators urged authorities to take immediate action to rehabilitate roads, expand access to potable water, strengthen healthcare delivery, improve educational facilities, develop modern market infrastructure, create employment opportunities for the youth, and invest in the critical infrastructure necessary to improve the welfare of residents.

They warned that the youth of Ada would continue to demand accountability and development until tangible steps are taken to address the challenges confronting the area.
